Address Extraction for a Mailing List
A boutique kitchen supplier had been supplying quality kitchens for 15 years. However, they did not have an actual customer database containing all the client names, addresses, and telephone numbers. With the introduction of new products, they wished to make use of their existing customer base. But to do so, they had to open every one of the hundreds of invoices and copy and paste the names and addresss into another file. This is where Zoborg could help with its productivity tools. Zoborg developed a very simple program to look through all the invoices and extract the names and addresses into a simple database which could be used for the mail shot. Automating this task saved the company over a week of boring and error-prone copying and pasting, giving them a database they could use for the future. The database helped improve business productivity and in the long run proved to be invaluable.
Automatically Plotting Geographical Data (Latitudes and Longitudes)
A local travel agency wished to plot the locatioon of all their hotels on a map to be displayed on their website. However, to achieve this they had to find every latitude and longitude of over 1,500 hotels. They originally started doing this manually with a mapping website, but after only managing to find 60 hotels in 2 days, they approached us to find a better way… and that we did…. It took us only a short time to find a way of doing this with our automation tools and all 1500 were found in a jiffy!
Automating Marketing Activities
An estate agent, every week, had to upload his latest instructions and property photographs to a series of online property websites. To do so, he had to resize the images and then copy and paste the details into a different online form for each site. Zoborg was engaged to automate this task. Localization of Books
A small publishing house publishes books for both the American and British market. However, due to the spelling differences between the two locales (over 1700 words have different spellings) they needed to apply the correct spelling for each market. Historically, they did so by copying and pasting every word in their word processor, but this process was prone to missing some instances and was very time-consuming. This company wanted to automate manual tasks. So, Zoborg developed a very simple program which allows any document to be converted into either American or British spelling in seconds. Timber Cutting List
A fencing and decking company wished to minimise the amount of wastage when they laid outside decking for their customers. They wished to achieve this by creating a decking cutting list based on their requirements, which would cut the timber in the most efficient way.
